
Wage Kandep Cultural Show

The Wage Kandep Cultural Show is a grassroots festival held in the Wage area of Kandep District, Enga Province. Launched in 2023, the show was created to promote peace, unity, and cultural preservation following periods of tribal conflict.
Expected Timing: Historically held in mid-December (December 15–17 in both 2023 and 2024).
Slogan: "Promoting Wage Kandep Culture to achieve development aspirations through unity, peace and prosperity".
Show Highlights
Cultural Preservation: In addition to Sing-Sings, the event showcases traditional rituals, agriculture, and livestock preservation.
Travel Information.
Live Music: Performances by famous local artists, including Gedix Atege, have been a major draw in previous years.
Cross-Border Participation: The show often invites neighboring clans from Magarima (Hela) and Mendi (Southern Highlands) due to the district's shared borders.
Organization: The event is a community initiative led by Londe Yowan (Overall Coordinator) in collaboration with the National Cultural Commission (NCC) and the PNG Tourism Promotion Authority (TPA).

Location: Takos Primary School Field in Mambal Village, Middle Wage LLG, Kandep District
Getting There: Access: Kandep is a remote, high-altitude region. The road from Wabag to Kandep (via Longap-Porokale) is the main access route, though road conditions can be poor and may require 4WD vehicles.
