EXPLORE ENGA'S SIX DISTRICTS
You will catch your breath at every turn on your journey through Enga.
Located in the west of Enga, Wapenamanda District is the main entry point for visitors to Enga, where the only airport in the province is located.
Kumul Lodge is also located in this district.
WABAG DISTRICT
Covering the centre the of Enga Province, fanning out to its northern border, this district is where the provincial capital, also called Wabag, is located.
Wabag Town is home to the Take Anda Museum and the annual Enga Cultural Show.
Situated west of Wabag, Laiagam is the largest district in Enga with numerous attractions for visitors.
This is a fertile agricultural hub for the province. Lake Ivae, the Lygone Salt Ponds and Sirunki are found in this district.
Some of Enga's most striking geographical features are found in Kandep District.
Formed from ancient volcanic activity creating inland crater lakes, occupied by a number of who tribes still come and go in dugout log canoes.
KOMPIAM DISTRICT
Kompian is regarded as one the most remote and isolated parts of Papua New Guinea, where the western civilisation has not yet encroached on the lives of the people here.
Some of the most thunderous waterfalls can be found in Kompiam District.
Often referred to as “the end of the road”. It’s here that the Highlands Highway ends its long stretch from the coast.
Porgera is famous as the site of the 3rd largest gold mine in the world.
This district is where you'll find the Nete Lyaim Festival.
